一 活动简介
组织目的：在北京及其周边地区的医学信息行业中形成学术研究的氛围[地域局限性的无奈]，逐步形成影响，以促进交流，促进合作，扩展知识面，加深学术研究深度。
参与人群：以在医院工作的信息相关人员为主，兼顾医信公司的技术人员。有一定的工作经验，对医学信息学的某一方面感兴趣，愿意为此投入自己的精力和资源进行独立研究和学习，并愿意与其他人进行交流。不反对厂商的技术人员参加，但拒绝厂商产品的广告宣传。报告作为中心发言，参与者的讨论是活动的核心内容。
活动周期：初期以不定期为主，争取每两个月一期。在有一定的运作经验，形成较为固定参与人群后，争取每月一期。
交流主题：聚焦于医学信息学，并不局限在医学信息范围内，涵盖整个信息学的基础理论和研究，在此基础上再深入在医学、医院的实际应用与实践。可以邀请医信行业外的基础理论专家进行交流。交流的重点在于信息学基础理论、以及理论与实践的结合，兼顾管理理论在医学信息发展中的作用。不仅来了解不同的学术研究理论基础，还要注重这些理论的发展过程，并在国外和国内的实践情况。
活动形式：30分钟、45分钟、60分钟三种时段的PPT准备（主讲人自己选择演讲时段），中文PPT（必需），英文PPT（鼓励使用），采用中文演讲。演讲后半小时QA。首次演讲者需要加入自我背景介绍内容。
参与方式：论坛发布公告，愿意参与者可通过跟贴、Email、手机短信方式联系组织者报名参加，收到回复确认报名成功。
参加人数：本次研讨会的参加人数不超过20人，不承诺所有报名者均能参加。
网络共享：每次研讨会后1-2周内将在论坛上提供SWF或者PDF的讨论材料下载。
办法变更：上述具体内容网友可以提出意见和建议进行讨论。

主题：Biomedical Informatics: Current Challenges（生物信息学：当前的挑战）
Biomedical informatics is a rapidly-growing interdisciplinary field. It is concerned with how biological, medical, and health data are collected, stored, communicated, and presented; how those data are processed into health information and knowledge suitable for biomedical and healthcare tasks; and how information technology can be applied to support these processes. In this talk, four current challenges facing biomedical informatics will be discussed: infrastructure, ontology, translational informatics, and human-centered computing.
主讲人：Jiajie Zhang, PhD（张家杰博士 美国德克萨斯州立大学）
Jiajie Zhang is the Doris L. Ross Endowed Professor and the Associate Dean for Research in the School of Health Information Sciences at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He obtained his BS from the Special Class of Gifted Young with a specialization in Biological Sciences from the University of Science and Technoloyg of China in 1983. He obtained his PhD in Cognitive Science in 1992 from the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Zhang's research interests include human-centered computing in health information systems, information visualization, medical decision making, knowledge representation and ontology, and medical errors. He has publishd over one hundred artciles on various topics in biomedical informatics and cognitive science. He research has been funded by grants and contracts from NIH, NASA, US Army, US Navy, Microsoft, Merck, Boeing, and other agencies. Dr. Zhang is an elected Fellow of American College of Medical Informatics
