我们一般这么讲，不知可否适用。

“There are other ways to get information out of these silos. ...”

isolated island：直译
如果在国外交流最好用前者； 在国内交流就无所谓了，老外都能懂哈。

silo这个词自己也是最近见才频繁碰到，正纳闷什么意思呢？

怎么和solo长得有点像

isolated information island 或 information silo 均可。

silo 本意是指谷仓等大圆桶形储物用建筑，在管理中常指那些孤立的，只重内部交流而缺乏相互间联系的部门，组织，工作程序等等。silo 本意中已有isolation的意思，所以不必再重复指出。

以之前交流的经验来看，一般大家都说 silo，silo的意思是“井“或者”圆筒状物“，如导弹发射井用 silo这个词。

在每次医学信息学和项目相关的口译翻译时，普遍的译法是 “information silo” ＝"信息孤岛"

silo是地道的表达方式
